How Long Will It Take To Heal After A Da Vinci Radical Prostatectomy ?

Had a da Vinci radical prostatectomy 7 weeks ago. All went well and generally feel great. I do notice a slight burning sensation after urination (not during) and only lingers for about 5 to 15 seconds and stops. Not very painful but is present 90% of the times I urinate. Burning sensation is not from penis urethra but feels like from behind pelvis wall where bladder connects to urethra. Is this still healing process of tissues? Should I be patient to let it heal or should I tell doctor?

Hello
Thanks for query.
The burning sensation after passing urine after the surgery of radical Prostatectomy is common and due to inflammation at the site of anastomosis between bladder and urethra .

This gradually fades away over a period of 4-6 months .

You can take prophylactic antibiotic like Norfloxacin twice daily to prevent infection .

Ensure to drink more water,
Dr.Patil.
