How Early Should Gastric Ulcer Be Treated?
What is a reasonable time to treat a gastric ulcer in the fundus? Ulcer not caused from NSAIDs or Hporli. I ve been taking two aciphex a day for years and year. Since Dec 2013 I ve been on carafate repeat endoscop in February no improvement another scheduled for Apr 22. I don t feel there has been any improvement. I had an open fundiplication 20 yrs ago long family history of stomach, pancreas and colon cancer.

I can understand our concern for non-healing of stomach cancer.
1) Having positive family history of stomach, colon cancer + non-healing of stomach ulcer + ulcer at fundus part of stomach + negative test for H.Pylori -- all favours that you need further evaluation to rule out malignant stomach ulcer.
2) For this you need repeat endoscopy with biopsy, CT scan abdomen, blood tests for Vit-B12 and CA125.
3) Once malignancy is ruled out, you can manage this ulcer with simple acidity treatment.
