How Can Swelling On The Knees Be Treated?

Hi, about four weeks ago, I tripped on a bottom step in our house fell down hard on my knees onto a tile floor. The knee swelled up and bruised, but that healed after about a week or two. Now I have a hard lump on that spot. It only hurts when I press on it or kneel. Could it still be healing? Should I be concerned? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your treating Doctor [Ortho]and do MRI to know exact cause of swelling.

2)Discuss surgical procedure and physiotherapy if any ligament injury is detected.

Do follow lifestyle modification like this -

1)Strengthen the muscles around your knee. Strong muscles around a joint can help ease pressure on the joint itself.

2)Choose low-impact exercise. Certain activities, such as water aerobics and swimming, don't place continuous weight-bearing stress on your knee joints.

3)Maintain a healthy weight. Excess weight contributes to the wear-and-tear damage easily.

Hope that helps
