How Can Pain Caused By Constipation Be Treated?

Dear Doctor,

I am suffering with constibation . Weekly one or 2 times only passing stool with difficulty.I am not having the feeling of complete passing of stools. I am a diabetic patient for the past 20 years.Can You suggest some relief for my pain

Hello Baskaran,

Considering the fact that you are a diabetic patient for the past 20 yrs, the symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to functional reason (decreased gastric motility).
However, any pathology (like obstruction) in the Gastrointestinal tract also needs to be considered.
Kindly consult a Gastroenterologist & get a proper clinical examination done to detect any pathological cause for the symptoms.
Investigations like Ultrasound scan of abdomen, contrast studies & Colonoscopy will be helpful.
Permanent relief from your symptoms will be obtained once the underlying cause is corrected.

Laxatives like Cremaffin can be used temporarily.
You can also use Isabgol husk at night time. It will help in clearing of bowel in the morning.
