How Can Pain And Swelling In The Finger Be Treated?

Splinter did not come all the way out of my fingernail last week and now my finger is red and swollen and warm from nail to knuckle also have been squeezing clear, white, yellow fluid from the entry wound painful and throbbing have been soaking in peroxide and applying antibiotic ointment 3 x daily

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your fingertips infection.

As per your history, signs and symptoms, it seems to me that you are having infection to your finger nail bed (finger tip).

You need to keep it clean by using betadine or hydrogen peroxide antiseptic solution. And also apply the neomycin antibiotics cream or the one you are using.

If there is spread of the wound and associated fever or pus discharge you may need a antibiotic course like the Amoxicillin clavulinic acid combination for at least five days.
