How Can Labyrinthitis With Sickness And Constant Movement Be Treated?

Hello, In the year 2000 I was diagnosed with Bi-lateral BPPV and I was given the Empley Manouvere but this was unsuccessful. In 2002 I had surgery to block a Semi-Circular Canal in the left side. Sinse then I have not had any major problems until 7 weeks ago when I woke up with the symptoms of Labyrinthitis which are still present today. I am expereincing servere symptoms of constant movement and sickness. My GP has prescribed me with Serc-16mg 3 a day, Cinnarazine 15mg 3 a day and Cyclizine 50mg 2 a day. He also has given me Buspirone 5mg 1 a day for anxiety; however I am reluctant to take this as it says the side effects include sickness and dizziness. I am feeling very poorly even with the medication. I am currently waiting for a refferal to an ENT Specialist, is there anything I can do in the meantime to improve things? Thank You Angela

Hello,

You may take low dose of prednisolone to reduce labyrinthitis. Low dose sedatives are useful.

Take care while doing regular activities. Avoid driving and climbing stairs lonely. If no improvement please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
