How Can Genital Herpes Outbreak Be Confirmed?

I recently had an oral encounter while having Impetigo on my right cheek. She now has gential herpes, and i got cleared from it after i had myself tested out. She started with flu-like symptoms after about 5 days, and im not sure if she had an outbreak, but i do know that her glands were swollen and such. how is this possible?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Genital herpes is a highly infective condition. If suspected lesions have appeared then you must consult your doctor and get clinically examined. Doing herpes specific tests when lesions have appeared usually confirms the diagnosis. In many patients herpes remains inactive or dormant for long periods.
