How Can Fever Along With Vomiting Be Treated?

Hello doctor, my baby is suffering from fever. Initially she was given fepanil drops, but the fever continued after 2-3days again, then the doctor suggested meftal-p syrup. She vomits immediately after the syrup. Should I continue the syrup for baby?

Hello. I'm sorry you are going through a tough phase in taking care of your baby!

Always mention the age and weight of the baby because it is of utmost importance to us to suggest any treatment.

Fever can be generally treated with any paracetamol suspension but the best way is tepid sponging. Dip a towel in luke warm water and rub the baby naked from head to toe. It brings down the fever drastically.
coming to your query, continue your paracetamol syrup once in 6 hours.

Your baby is vomiting the syrup for various reasons. Donot administer repeat dose after vomiting. Wait for an hour or two and check the temperature post vomiting. Then give another dose if the fever has not come down. Meftal-P can be given, not an issue. It is Mefanamic acid used to treat pain and fever. You can either use MetalP of Fepanil. But not both at once.
