How Can Clinical Depression For Several Years Be Treated?

I have been on meds for clinical depression for quite some time now. I recently went through a big trauma in my life and Ihave been seeing a counselor for almost 3 months for this. Lately I haven t been able to wake up in the mornings. I get up and then maybe an hour later I need to lay down and find myself waking up but not being able to keep my eyes open so I fall asleep again. I can sleep 5 hours. So frustrating as I ve waisted my day. I m 52, do not work, I see a psych for the depression and meds.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.I understand your concern
It seems you hace bern on high dosage of medication..leading to dleep.
In my opinion drugs should be just supportive aid till the patients gains responce from sittings woth counsellor so as to find out basic cause of the problem &find the way out(psychotherapy).
Patients own efforts in form of yoga &mind concentration &meditation does help a lot.
*Please consult a nurophysician & a pstchological councellar for better results.
Thanks.
