My daughter has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am not sure of the name I just know it is the most common. She is 29 years old, newly married and ready to begin a family. She was told she would more than likely need radiation. WE are visiting with a surgeon tomorrow. I assume this is where we will find out what stage and what he feels should be done. I should also add My family has a history of breast cancer. It is my hope to be a little more informed so I understand more and can also seek out answers.
hello dear. I have gone through your details. She requires some investigations on the basis of clinical examination to look for any metastatic disease( disease spread outside the breast), and some tests for receptor status. If it has not spread then she will require a combination of surgery followed by chemotherapy. radiotherapy may or may not be required depending upon the stage of disease and the type of surgery.
Similarly targeted therapy and hormonal therapy may or may not be required depending upon the receptor status.
Prognosis of the disease will depend upon the stage and receptor status. Overall, breast cancer is among few cancers in which complete cure is possible. Hope that makes you clear. Thanks
