How Can An Itchy Rash On The Left Thigh Be Treated?

hi, first....for several years, mostly in winter, the skin of my legs feels like it is ripping when I bend, or then unbend my legs (knees/hips) as in kneeling or standing up. No rash, no flaky skin, intense surface pain. I have an itchy spot on anterior left thigh, that I have been scratching at for at least 8 months to a year. There is now a small wound from scratching, it has scabbed over and is healing/shrinking.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

To be honest it very difficult to say about skin problems without seeing that, however the rash you described looks like wither chronic eczema (in which the skin itches, is red and feels dry). Other possibility is psoriasis in which the skin is rough with scalings. However, there are a lot more possibilities and once you said it's for last one year. I would advise you must consult a dermatologist, so that he could see this in detail and hopefully fixes it for you. Having it for 8 months, I don't think you should any more be waiting to see a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
