History Of POS. Had Ovary Removed. Why Does Sex Hurt? Normal Size Of Ovary And Uterus?
Hi Doctor, I am 42 years old with a history of POS. Had right ovary removed at 3 months pregnant due to taratoma (think that is what is was called. Have pain during sex, lower back pain and pressure in pelvic area and groin . Sonogram results show uterine volume of 89.60 cm3 on 2D ultrasound and 10.78 cm3 volume of ovary. Do you know normal size of ovary and uterus? thank you, Mary Pyatt
the size of the ovary and the uterus depends upon the age and upon the factor of birth. multiparous women have larger ones nulliparous have small one. preadolescent and postmenopausal and premenopausal have smaller compared to active reproductive age. so i would say at this age of yours these values should be considered normal. as no data has been provided with you parity and family history.
pain during sex is called dyspereunia. there are many causes for it. it may be a medical condition or a psychological one. you would need a full gynecological exam and then any thing can be stated about that, even the greatest physician of the era can not answer that from this platform. you need a gynecological exam first.
Cheers
