Hip And Back Injury, Painful, Bruised, Unable To Walk. What Is Wrong?
Hello, This morning I was stepping over our baby gate and well, to say the least I am very clumsy. My foot got stuck and I flipped over it backwards landing with my hole weight on my lower left back/hip region. I know I did not break anything but now its painful in my left lower back and hip to walk. I know I probably bruised it but I was curious if I should get it checked out or just see if the pain subsides. Its been a few hours and its only gotten worse. Thank you for your time.
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. If you are able to walk normally and able to bend forwards without any issues, any major bony injury can be ruled out either in your hip or spine. It could be a blunt injury causing a soft tissue contusion producing pain. Generally this should subside with * analgesic antiinflammatory medicines * ice compressions * muscle relaxant gel application If symptoms are persisting , then you need an orthosurgeons consultation. Hope this helps
Hi--since I can examine you I can't say that you should just see how this is tomorrow after you have bed rest for now. Just because you can walk and put weight on your feet doesn't mean that you haven't fractured your spine or your hip
