Why Are My Periods Delayed Despite Sexual Inactivity?
Hi there. I am writing to you in regards to my period. This is the story: September 21st was the last time I had sex. I got my regular/scheduled period on September 22nd. I am on the hormonal IUD and he even used a condom. For the entire month of October, I did not have sex. However my October period is 7 days late. Is there any chance I am pregnant?
I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Usually following hormonal IUD insertion symptoms like change in menstrual cycle, cramping & on & off bleeding /spotting , abdominal/pelvic pain, headache/migraine, back pain etc are common. These symptoms will settle within 6months.
I advice you to, - look for the expiry of the effective lifespan of the device - consult your gynaecologist for a USG pelvis in order to locate if there is any pathology & also for further assistance.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
