Headaches, Sensitivity. Have Chronic Iron Deficient Anemia And Hypoglycimia. Help?

I have an 11 yr old boy that has chronic iron deficient anemia and hypoglycimia. Anemia can be held at bay with supplements ...about 120mg elemental a day. However, he also has what appears to be chronic and worsening hypoglycimia despite supplementation back to normal iron levels. Also headache and light sensitivity. No apparent blood loss, nothing else in blood work of note. Diet is fine. Hypoglycemic episodes can come as soon as 1 hour after a good meal but usually about 1.5 to 2 hours later. If we can coax him to eat we can usually recover him. These symptions have been ongoing for nearly 1.5 years. What could accout for it?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.

Migraines can occur in children of his age. Since he has frequent headaches, he would benefit from preventive medications such as divalproex or flunarizine or beta blockers.
It is possible that his dietary intake would improve if his headaches improve.
However, if his hypoglycemia continues to recur, then, please consult an Endocrinologist.

Please get back if you require any additional information.

Best wishes,
