Head Injury. Vomiting, Lump Above Eyebrow, Dizziness. Stomach Ache, Has Flu. Should I Be Worried?

My son got hit in the head yesterday in gym class. The flu is also going around. Last night he woke 4 times and was vomiting and today he has a lump above his left eyebrow. He is very dizzy. Since he also had a stomach ache I am not sure if it is the flu or the result of his head injury . Anything I should be worried about and is a doctor visit necessary?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

The current symptoms suggest a mild head injury and a scalp hematoma (bleeding underneath the skin).

Headache, dizziness and vomiting are part of that. Partly, the symptoms could be contributed by his flu.

Please continue the symptomatic treatment such as diclofenac or ibuprofen for headache, ondansetron for vomiting and betahistine for dizziness. We expect him to get better in a few days.

However, if he does not recover or if his symptoms worsen, you could take him to the doctor.

Best wishes,
