Having Symptoms Of Pregnancy. Took Late Birth Control Pills. Pregnant?

I have been taking mercilon pill for over two years now, but this month I had intercourse the day I should be taking my first pill and had my first pill more than 12 hours late. By the second week on my pill, my breast started feeling tender and experiencing other symptoms of pregnancy. I am also dry through out the month which is not normal. Is it possible that I am pregnant?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Taking a birth pill late by 12 hours only once during the cycle does not decrease its efficacy as a contraceptive. The chances of conception are minimal. Please do not worry.

OB & GYN Specialist Dr. Dr. Soumen Patra's  Response
Hello,

Mercilon is combined OCP and it gives high protection (near about 99.9%) if it is taken regularly on scheduled time. As you took the pill over two years, then your body is adjusted with above hormonal pill. Therefore, taking first pill more than 12 hrs late does not cause contraceptive failure.

Breast tenderness is occurred due to effect of progesterone hormone. Wear tight breast support and take primosa capsule to get relief.

Wait for your next coming period to check your pregnancy status in case of delayed period more than 7 days. It is too early to confirm pregnancy. Don't be stressed.

Good luck.
