Having Painful Lump Below Knee Cap. Hurts To Walk, Bend Beyond 25 Degrees. Having Diabetes, Pancreatitis. What Could It Be?
I am 51years of age, 5'6" 215 lbs about 20 lbs over weight, not obese. I use to work out awhile ago. About 6 months ago this lump developed below my left knee cap. It hurt to walk on or bend past 20-25 degrees. Then after a week the pain went away but the lump stayed, about the size of a quarter. Two days ago the pain started again and the lump is hard to the touch just as before. Hurts to walk on and to bend past 20-25 degrees. I am basically healthy..
borderline diabetic and have had Panchreatitis for the past 20 years and last year had an issue with the Duodnem.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the lump. Possibilities that may need to be considered include enlarged bursa, lipomas, cysts, growths from underlying connective tissue etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the X-ray of the area affected and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of lump under his/her guidance.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query
