Have Half Of Thyroid Removed, Experienced Seizures While Pregnant, Took Cap, Baby Got Seizures. Anything To Do With Thyroid?

Hi, I had half my thyroid removed a year ago this past April because I had a 5 cm nodule on it. At check up I was feeling fine so I did not need to have medication But when I got pregnant with my daughter started to have seizures. I got my TSH and my T4 levels checked and was told that they are on the low end of normal so no need to worry. Through out pregnancy I had seizures a few more times and about 1 month after my daughter was born I had a grand mal seizure. I was put on medication for seizures. But I think that is has something to do with my thyroid I got my levels check again one week they were 2.7 and then I asked to get them checked by a different doctor 2 weeks later and they were 3.1. I am told to stop asking for these test because all of this is in my head. I still think that it has something to do with my thyroid because non of this started to happen until after I had that half removed.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,

After going through all the available details, You have been operated for thyroid nodule and your thyroid levels are normal.

Your seizures are unlikely to be related to thyroid issue, as you are keeping normal thyroid levels.

During pregnancy if seizure are there they are commonly due to high blood pressure and Eclampsia.

You are taking anti epileptic drugs to control the seizure. You should get a CT Scan of head and an EEG if not already done and if everything is fine anti epileptic agents needs to be continued regularly for long duration.
This should be under supervision of Neuro Physician.

The onset of seizure and thyroid surgery may be just coincidence and not the cause.

Please do not make assumptions by yourself please understand as explained by your treating doctor.

Hope this clears your doubts.
Take care.
Good Luck.
