Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I understand that you are going through a stressful time due to your anxiety problems. Xanax (Alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine medication which is used for the short-term management of anxiety. However, you must remember that lit has a risk of habituation and can cause withdrawal symptoms or "rebound anxiety" when used for long periods. This is why benzodiazepines alone are not usually prescribed as the primary medication for treating anxiety disorders. There are other medication like SSRIs which can be used safely and effectively, without the risk of habituation. There are also very good psychological therapies which can give you effective and long-lasting results.

So, I would advise you to first consult a psychiatrist for a detailed psychological assessment. After this further treatment options can be planned and implemented. It is not a good idea to start psychiatric medication on your own, because you need to be monitored for improvement as well as for the side effects of the medication. In addition, with professional help, you can also be taught good stress-management techniques and coping skills, which will also help you in minimizing your anxiety. So, please don't hesitate to seek professional help.

Best wishes,

hello

welcome to health care magic

Xanax is an anti-anxiety agent which is definitely helpful for anxiety symptoms. But in case of panic attacks (if that is the case) you might need other drugs like SSRIs. I advise you to consult a psychiatrist for detailed work up, diagnosis and treatment.
Good Luck
Thanks
