Hello Sir, My MRI Says 1) Mild diffuse annular bulge with left paracentral protrusion of L4-5 intervertebral disc left lateral recess narrowing. 2)Mild diffuse annular bulge with left paracentral protrusion of L5-S1 intervertebral disc left lateral recess narrowing. 3) Mild lumbar facetal arthropathy What is this mean, and can it be cured for all?
You have degenerative disease of spine in the form of disc prolapse. It is due to weakness in annulus fibrosis. Weak annulus fibrosis allows intervertebral disc for prolapse. There is mild diffuse disc bulge at L4-5 level with protrusion of disc in left para central position causing narrowing of left lateral recess. Same finding is noted at L5-S1 level. There is also facetal hypertrophy. Treatment includes physiotherapy or surgical. Effectiveness of both modalities are same. So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further prolapse. Surgery should be the last option. Also you shouldn't lift heavy objects and avoid abrupt forward bending. Get well soon.
