Had clavicle fracture 17 days ago. What cause of swelling on shoulder near neck ?
I broke my clavicle 17 days ago - hairline fracture near shoulder . I have been gaining strength and mobility every day. I am now out of my splint for 4 days. All of a sudden I have a lot of swelling on my shoulder near my neck and above the clavicle - but it is the opposite end of where the fracture is. Should I be concerned about this? What is the cause?

Few important questions like the duration of splint applied;and did you do any heavy work with the concerned hand needs to be known. The swelling near neck should be examined to find the reason why it has developed or whether it is related to the fracture of clavicle. Please get examined do not ignore.
Did this swelling appear all of a sudden? did you have pain at that moment? If yes, there's a high probability that your fracture has displaced, as 17 days is too short to get back to normal activities after sustaining a clavicle fracture. Dont take a clavicle fracture lightly, it could cause serious problems. Let me know how you are doing.

Hi, I am a 50 year old woman and fractured my clavicle after falling off a horse 12 weeks ago. X-ray last week showed it may have started to heal but that healing is delayed so I will have another in 3 weeks. I also have quite a large lump on my upper arm on the same side and my shoulder is very painful with little movement in any direction. Should I also ask for X-ray of shoulder and where the lump is in upper arm? I have been wearing a sling for 12 weeks. Thank you
I broke my clavicle 10 years ago, and had a cadaver bone graft to repair the brake. Recently, my clavicle has started to hurt. It feels like an ache in the bone, and has been consistent for the past two weeks. The pain eases when I put pressure on it. I have never had trouble with my clavicle before. Do I need to see a doctor, or is it possible that this pain is just due to barometric pressure changes? Thank you!
