Had D&C For Polyp Removal. Irregular Periods After Surgery. Will I Be Able To Conceive?
Hi there I need to know an answer or somthing that can help... please.... I had a D&C for polyp removal an scrapped feb 18, 2010 and before that my cycles have always been regular, It s now 3 years later and after that surgery my cycles have been irregular and really off . please be honest I m wondering if I can concieve
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
My assumption is that before the polypectomy, your cycles were irregular, or you were having irregular bleeding. A D&C is limited in terms of its ability to completely remove polyps that might be present. It is my opinion that you need to be re-evaluated for regular bleeding, and this evaluation needs to include re-evaluation for polyps. This would include labs to check for thyroid dysfunction, prolactin levels, diabetes screening, labs related to PCOS, and an ultrasound called a sonohysterogram. Only then can one make a guess as to whether you will need assistance to get pregnant, or whether this will happen on its own. Do not give up hope!!
