Thanks for the query.
Scanty flow during periods is called as hypomenorrhea.
It can occur due to many causes like :
- Hormonal imbalance due to causes like poly cystic ovary disease, stress and strain, weight changes etc.
- Thyroid abnormalities.
- Anemia.
-Uterine abnormalities like adhesions etc.
- Some women may have spotting during their expected date of periods even being pregnant.
So, if you have doubt regarding pregnancy, better to undergo blood test for pregnancy or ultrasound.
By this the possibility of pregnancy can be ruled out.
Ultrasound helps in finding out other causes of scanty flow like poly cystic ovary disease, uterine abnormalities etc.
So consult gynecologist once and proceed according to her advice.
Take care.
