Fuzzy stools, diarrhea, done colonoscopy. What is it?

I m passing fuzzy stools . It s like diarrhea but it sinks and is fuzzy instead of solid stool. Do keep in mind that there is both stool and this fuzz. I just had a colonoscopy on Monday, so I m assuming my colon is just passing extra mucous or moisture. Also I ve been eating a lot more fiber . What could this fuzzy stuff be?

Hi,

Noted your history, short and specific.
Fuzzy stools can be due to the following reasons:
Increase bacterial imbalance.
High fiber diet as you are taking it.
Food an beverages that you consume also have a direct impact on the consistency of stool.
Intolerance to certain foods and beverages.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Get the stool tests done for three days.
Tests of blood, for CBC, thyroid pancreas and liver functions.
CT scan of abdomen.
Colonoscopy has already been done but the report is not available.
If there is any evidence of an intestinal infection then you need a prescription based antibiotic, Metronidazole, probiotics; symptomatic and supportive management.
Also watch for the foods and beverages that give you relief and continue all these. Stop the ones that cause you teh problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon

Hello. In early 2013 I had a colonoscopy. Ever since then, I have had horrible IBS, especially whenever I eat. I usually have to use the bathroom after each meal, which is semi-urgent and I pass some mucus with yellow stool which is either very loose or diarrhea. These symptoms weren t there before. Since I am always having to use the bathroom after eating and my stools are yellow, I suspect I may have problem with my small intestines and have too fast a transit time. Do you think the colonoscopy could have damaged my ileocal valve (as the camera pushed through the valve to see my terminal ileum)? Aside from that, is there anyway to reduce my symptoms (aside from lomotil, imodium etc.)

Hi. My mom is nearly 80 years old. She has congestive heart failure with a pacemaker with DFib. She has hepatitis c. She drinks 3 to 4 glasses of wine per day. She drinks Diet Coke. She has lost her appetite. She recently had a colonoscopy and was told it was fine. She works everyday as a professional. She has an enormous amount of blood in her stool along with frequent diarrhea or constipation.

Dear Sir/Madam, My Nephew who is 5 years old has been passing stool with drops of blood since the last 2-3 months. The Doctors here have failed to diagnose the cause and suggested for a Colonoscopy. Since he is just 5 years old,so we are worried. Under such prevailing conditions we are at a fix as to what to be done. Can you please suggest us the name of a good Pediatric Doctor/Surgeon in your Hospital who will be able to take care of the entire matter? Please respond fast. Regards, S.Chakraborty. Hi, I’m a 39 year old female and have been suffering from haemorrhoids for almost 2 years. I’m not getting a lot of bleeding, itching or discomfort (or not as much as I used to); however, over the last 6 months, I have been getting a thick, cloudy discharge and a dose of smelly fluid throughout the day occasionally (sometimes with some blood spots). I have tried Preparation H and Anusal treatments without much luck. I also had a colonoscopy done about a six months ago – apparently my colon looks great with no polyps, no problems, except the haemorrhoids (on the outside). Because of the discharge, my doctor recommended taking this to the next level and seeing a gastroenterologist/surgeon. However, I would much rather try a less invasive option, if there is one – besides my appointment has been scheduled for DEC 2012. Over the last few weeks I started taking magnesium and selenium pills, and I noticed that the occasional bleeding from haemorrhoids is gone, plus I have a much easier time going to the washroom. However, the discharge and fluid is still there.
