Fuzzy Stools, Diarrhea, Done Colonoscopy. What Is It?

I m passing fuzzy stools . It s like diarrhea but it sinks and is fuzzy instead of solid stool. Do keep in mind that there is both stool and this fuzz. I just had a colonoscopy on Monday, so I m assuming my colon is just passing extra mucous or moisture. Also I ve been eating a lot more fiber . What could this fuzzy stuff be?

Hi,

Noted your history, short and specific.
Fuzzy stools can be due to the following reasons:
Increase bacterial imbalance.
High fiber diet as you are taking it.
Food an beverages that you consume also have a direct impact on the consistency of stool.
Intolerance to certain foods and beverages.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Get the stool tests done for three days.
Tests of blood, for CBC, thyroid pancreas and liver functions.
CT scan of abdomen.
Colonoscopy has already been done but the report is not available.
If there is any evidence of an intestinal infection then you need a prescription based antibiotic, Metronidazole, probiotics; symptomatic and supportive management.
Also watch for the foods and beverages that give you relief and continue all these. Stop the ones that cause you teh problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
