Frequent And Painful Urination. Urinanalysis Showed Minor Blood In Urine. Constant Ache In Perineum. No Help From Doctors. Thoughts?

I am a 69 year old male. About 1 or two years ago began frequent urination at night at 2 times/night and now 4-5 times at night. About 6 mnths ago urination became painful. Had urinalysis with no infection but minor blood in urine. My perineum now tends to ache continuously as well as my penis pain. Had second urinalysis at urologist office but assume no infection as they did not follow up with antibiotics or phone call. They made appt. for me to have a cystoscopy. Urologist did a digital but said could not feel abnormalcy and couldn't tell if enlarged. What do you think at this point?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
I would come up with these possibilities for pain in urethra and frequent urination , these includes.
1 Stone in urinary tract system, as you are having pain in urethra ( penis ) , blood , bulging and pain in perineum .All these symptoms are an indication of kidney stone. Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of kidney with M R I scan.
2 Enlargement of prostate , diagnosis can be confirmed by per rectum examination , ultrasound examination of prostate. Also get prostate specific antigen examination to rule out any pathology in prostate. As frequent urination particularly in the night at the age of 69 years is suggestive of enlargement of prostate.
3 Urinary tract infection , diagnosis can be confirmed by urine culture and sensitivity test.
In my opinion consult one more urologist and get his opinion regarding prostate enlargement .
Good luck. Dr. HET
