Fell Down Stairs, Intense Pain In Ankle, Put Ice, No Relief. Suggestions?
I Dr. Siegel, I just fell down my stairs. I immediately felt (meaning, when I was still on the ground) intense pain at my ankle and put some ice on it. I can go tomorrow morning to the doctor at the campus where I can probably get some x-ray (I m a graduate student) but I m worried because of the pain. What do you suggest me to do? Should I go to the ER now rather than waiting tomorrow?
You can weight till morning. I can tell you some thing which you should do right now. 1. Apply ice and voletran ointment 2. apply compression bandage but not very tight. 3. Take Brufen for pain relief. 4. Keep ankle elevated over a pillow.
