I am 43 years old. I had my tubes ties after my second child was born 15 years ago. I have been regular with my cycle. Usually every 28 days lasting for 7 days, with a very heavy flow on the first two days. Last month I had a light flow for only three days and this month I should have gotten my period on the 19 and it is now 10 days late. I am actually pretty stress free right now as things are going very well. What could be the problem?
Hello and welcome to HCM, At 43 you could be nearing menopause. The age for menopause varies from one ethnic group to other. The menopause is preceded by peri-menopausal period. During this period, the menstruation does not stop but the cycles become prolonged and flow decreases. The urinary level of a hormone called- FSH increases in menopausal period. The other cause of menstrual irregularities is hormonal imbalance. You need to consult your gynecologist for relevant investigations to find the cause of menstrual irregularities.
