Face, Hands Tightens The Day After Drinking Alcohol. Pricking Sensation In Chest, Arms. Reason?

Quite often the day after drinking alcohol my face tightens up, I can hardly move my lips from an o shape and around my eyes and cheeks twitches. My hands also tighten up and I get a pins and needles feeling in my chest , arms and hands. And face for that matter. Why does this happen? I can t seem to find an answer anywhere on the internet. I m a 24 year old male in otherwise generally good health.

With available information proper definite diagnosis can't be made. The problem you are facing is tightness of face hands, pricking sensation in chest, arms, not able to move lips, twitching in face muscles. These symptoms usually occurs on the day after your alcohol intake. These may be possibility of
- In a few persons there is a deficiency of enzyme in metabolism of alcohol. The enzyme is aldehyde dehydrogenase. In some people there is a change in this enzyme so acetaldehyde which is a metabolite of alcohol is not cleared from blood. So presence of this acetaldehyde in blood causes toxic symptoms you are having. The symptoms resembles disulfiram like reaction. This is a rare condition and it can be a possibility in you.
- Secondly it may be due to adulterated alcohol, but I assume you are taking right alcohol.

Visit a good psychiatrist for detailed evaluation.
