Hi Srini, Thanks for your question. Glasses prescriptions are written in a specific format. First is the spherical power (which may be abbreviated to sph on your prescription). This may be a minus or plus number. The second part of the prescription is the cylinder (abbreviated to cyl.) which is incorporated into the sphere above. A cylinder in your prescription means that you have some degree of astigmatism. This means that the cornea (clear window at the front of the eye) is not a perfect sphere but is more rugby ball shaped i.e. it is steeper along one direction compared to another. The axis refers to the orientation of the cylinder. Although you have some astigmatism it is not really a problem. It is corrected by your glasses and your corrected vision is 6/6 (same as 20/20) and therefore perfect. It is however important that you wear your glasses to avoid the symptoms you have been getting of shaped appearing distorted. It is also important that a lot of people have some degree of astigmatism and it is not an unusual or harmful finding in the majority. I would recommend that you do have regular glasses checks at least annually. If you find that the power of the cylinder is continuing to increase it may be worth seeing an eye doctor to rule out an underlying cause. I hope that has helped. Regards
