Excessive Pain In Ear, Put Soliwax, Had Combiflam. Pain Less, Hearing Self Voice Loud. Specialist Visit Required?

My left ear had excessive pain yesterday, I put 10 drops soliwax thrice yesterday and tuk combiflam once. The pain is very less now but I cant seem to hear from my left ear much and what ever I say seems to be too loud and I can hear my own food being chewed etc etc...Am pretty uncomfortable. Should I continue with soliwax or do i need to visit ENT specialist ?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Your problem seems to be an impacted wax. The fact that partial resolution with soliwax proves that. But you need to consult an ENT surgeon who will be able to remove the wax safely with wax hook or by doing syringing. Both are simple, painless and out-patient procedures.
Do not attempt to remove wax on your own. It may injure your ear canal or Ear drum.
Take care.

ENT Specialist Dr. Vaishali Mehta's  Response
Hello from HCM,

Thanks for your query.

You have Impacted wax in your left ear. Soliwax is a wax softener, which will soften the wax, not remove it. Once you have used the wax solvents for 4-5 days, the wax needs to be cleaned. This will be done by an ENT doctor using Syringing/ Removal under the microscope. Once the wax is cleared, the eardrum will be examined and your hearing assessed, to rule out other causes of ear pain/deafness. Hope this piece of info helps you.

Take care,
Dr Vaishali Mehta
