Done Hip Replacement Surgery. Taken Hydrocodone Earlier. Suggestions To Help Rest?
I am 68 yrs. old.....hip replacement surgery 5 wks. ago (fell while hiking in Yellowstone)....recovery going well, however, I cannot stay asleep at night....2 hrs. max at a time.....I am no longer on pain med (took hydrocordone-aceta for 2 wks......allowed me to sleep).....I now feel quite anxious as bedtime draws near knowing that I will thrash around most of the evening.....I do not nap during the day....keep as active as possible....to no avail.....can you suggest something to help me rest?
Hi thank for your question. You are doing well 2 week post total hip replacement that is good. Now you are having lack of sleep. Most probably you developed addiction to hydrocordone which you have used for 2 weeks. Pain is the only stimulus which can keep you awake during night but you are not having pain any more .Re consult, your treating Surgeon, who may examine you to rule out any other cause of lack of sleep, before prescribing you a short course of drugs for sleep. Hope this answers your question.
