Does The Yolk Sac Of Size 9.4mm At 8 Weeks Lead To Chromosomal Abnormalities?

I am currently 11 weeks and each week my baby has reached the growth it should and the heartbeat is 163. Problem being my yolk sac was 7.2 mm on the 7 week scan and 9.4mm on the 8 week scan (it is now on its way down). Does this mean I am at a higher risk for chromosonal abnormalities?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. A yolk sac of size more than 6 mm is large yolk sac. However, when the fetal heart beat is present, poor quality and regression of yolk sac are more specific than the large size of the yolk sac in predicting the pregnancy loss.
Moreover, large yolk sac is present in normal pregnancy and is not indicative of chromosomal anomalies in the fetus.
I suggest you not to worry and get a detailed anomaly ultrasound at18-20 weeks of pregnancy to rule out any anomaly in the fetus.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
