Does Taking These Medications For Hypothyroidism Safe?

I have hypothyroidism. I have taken the last peel on hand of Thyroid Complex from Vitamin Shoppe. I have on hand Vitacost Kelp 660 mg Herbal Supplement capsules : (Iodine (from kelp) 400 mcg per serving) (Sodium (from kelp) 40 mg per serving) (Kelp (whole thallus) 660 mg per serving).I get across controversial contradictions about taken Kelp to help the low hormonal Thyroid deficiency. What is your opinion on my taken the above mentioned Supplement? Cecile

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Supplementation of Thyroxine is the only treatment for hypothyroidism. Other supplement intake is a personal choice. I would suggest you to take the supplement along with thyroxine and check your thyroid levels every month. If the levels are normal and you feel symptomatically better, you can continue with the supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
