Does Taking Ritalin Cause Male Breast Enlargement?

Son, now 42, took Ritalin as a young child for a few years. He has had breast enlargementfor the past ten years or so. Must wear a rank top, undershirt or t-shirt under his regular shirt all the time. This is an embarrassment to him, especially in summer. Could this be related to the Ritalin?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Breast enlargement in males or gynecomastia is a very rare happening with ritalin and it isn't a drug which is notoriously associated with gynecomastia. However possibility still exist but in his case he should be worked up for other causes as well like any other drug history, hormonal imbalance or endocrine disorders.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
