I am a 36 year old male on my second day of a 5 day Azithromycin pack. While driving on the highway, about an hour after taking the medication, I suddenly could hardly breathe, my heart was racing and beating irregularly, and I thought that I may vomit. I pulled over and called 911, thinking that I was about to die! I settled down somewhat by the time the paramedics arrived and drove back home, but felt as though it might happen again. Was this just an anxiety attack? Did i have a reaction to the medicine? Should I stop taking it? I must add that a half-hour after I took the medication, I had a large coffee, whey protein drink, and a banana. I'm very scared to take my next dose tomorrow.
