Does Roaccutane Cause Any Side Effects?

I am 25 y.o woman, I m a general practitioner in an island in Indonesian. I have so much pimples and acnes in my face since in senior high school and my face really greasy. I went to many dermatologist, but there was no permanent improvement. They gave me topically medication, but then my face getting red and my skin face seems like thinner. As the doctors recomendation I also took microdermabration and laser for almost 8 times, I took it every month and I took facial for 2 times so it made my face thinner. Then I stopped the medication about 8 months ago and I tried to cure myself, I took Doxycline 2x100mg for 2 weeks, there was no improvement so I changed it to Clindamycin 4x150mg for 1 month and it reduced little acnes then I stopped and then the acnes become many again then I took diane tab for 2 months but because there was no stock coming again in my place so I stopped it. So now I decide to take Roaccutane for 4 months treatment, but I m still afraid of the adverse effect, I m not yet married but I m going to maybe next year, is that Roaccutane really helps? If it is, so how many dose should I take? my weight is 65 kgs. Thanks a lot for the help.

Hi,

Generally, it is a topical used once a day. The common side effect is that it causes the skin to age. In the time it is used, this doesn't produce wrinkles. It causes the skin to cycle rapidly, fall off, and this might produce a light burn. More often it is like a spa dermabrasion and the skin looks fresh and clean and glowing. There is, of course, VERY BAD BIRTH DEFECTS. And it sorta isn't recommended for women of childbearing potential.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
