Does Medication Taken For Chlamydia Cause Rashes On The Body And Sweating On The Back?

To whom this may concern, I smoked weed yesterday and had a couple of alcohol. Today, the lymph node on my neck started hurting. It is not swollen though. I also got tested for UTI and other STDs about a month ago and I had gotten chlamydia from my girlfriend but I was tested negative for other STDs including hiv, which I get tested for every 3 months. After I took the medication for the chlamydua, after like 2 weeks, I started developing this type of small rashes, they dont hurt or iche. And I would sweat often on my back alone, could it be a side affect for the medication?

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear you've had a rash and sweating after taking medication for chlamydia. Usually chlamydia is treated with Azithromycin, so I am assuming that is what you took. Azithromycin (as well as most antibiotics) can cause a rash, but I think it would be unlikely to cause a rash 2 weeks after finishing it.

It also does not cause any problems with sweating. As for your painful lymph node, there can be many causes, but I would consider a viral infection, especially mono, in your case. If it persists for several days I would suggest getting checked by a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
