Does iodized salt or multivitamin help in high blood pressure treatment?
I try to eat a salt free diet and add no salt when cooking due to high blood pressure. My recent thyroid blood work and radioactive iodine uptake test showed a slight hyper state, I also have an enlarged thyroid. Would adding iodized salt or taking a multivit. with iodine help or hurt?
Hello & Welcome to HCM, I had gone through the case, you did not mention your blood pressure monitoring. Well 5gm normal salt in day is necessary for you to keep iodin and sodium level in balance. It does not increase the blood pressure. For keeping the blood pressure under control avoid preservative food, pickles, sauces etc.So you can take iodized salt and multivitamin. Hope my answer will be effective for you. Thanks, Dr.Soni Verma Homoeopathic Physician,Nutritionist,Fitness trainer
