Does Folic Acid Cause Constipation, heartburn And Lower Back Pain?

Hi, I wonder if you can help. I came off the contraceptive pill 2 months ago and I started taking folic acid and have since been getting constipation, heartburn, aching lower back, occasionally a dull ache in either the right or left had side and sharp piercing pain in the groin areas. I feel constantly bloated and uncomfortable. Could it be the folic acid pills?? Many Thanks

High doses of folic acid might cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, rash, sleep disorders, irritability, confusion, nausea, stomach upset, behavior changes, skin reactions, seizures, gas, excitability, and other side effects in some patients.
Your symptoms appear to be due to Folic acid. You can try stopping Folic acid and see whether you still have those symptoms after stopping it.
