Does Bloating, Sore Breast, Missed Period When Having PCOD Indicates Pregnancy?

Hi myname is Sheela. I have PCOD and have been married for 8 months now. My last menstrual period was on 3rd Nov. I am experiencing a bloated feeling with sore breasts. I still havent got my period. Could I be pregnant? My HPT 3 days ago showed negative. Is there a chance I would have ovulated late and therefore conceived late or is this just PCOD?

Hi,

Usually the Poly cystic ovarian disease presents with irregular periods, anovulation or delayed ovulation, etc. due to reproductive hormonal imbalance and insulin resistance. It is difficult to judge the possibility of pregnancy by symptoms, as breast tenderness, bloating sensation of abdomen etc. can be seen in premenstrual phase also.

As your home pregnancy test kit gave negative result, the possibility of pregnancy is less and mostly delay in periods could be due to PCOD. To confirm, you can go for blood test for pregnancy. Beta HCG levels below 5 mIU/mL will rule out the possibility of pregnancy. In that case, possibly you may get periods soon as you are having premenstrual symptoms.
