Does Thyrotoxicosis Cause Irregular Periods?

Hi! am 31 yrs, female. i have thyrotoxicosis and i have been taking neomercazole 10mg/day since last 4 months. My menstrual cycle was perfectly regular but once i started taking this medicine period cylce started to shift from 24th of month to now 8th of month i.e almost 16 days. Do you think this is due to this medication or i may have possibility of any other problems? could you plez clearify my dout?

When you have hyperthyroidism, your body is producing excessive amounts of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4. Since these hormones regulate your metabolism (how your body processes and uses energy), having too high a level will cause symptoms related to a high metabolism.
Menstrual cycle is triggered by a number of hormones (FSH, LH,estrogen). Production of these are therefore influenced by the levels of thyroid/metabolism controlling hormones of the body hence an abnormally at the level of the thyroid likely is te cause of the menstrual irregularities
