Does Lisinopril Manufactured By Different Companies Elevate The BP?

Hi, I ve been taking Lisinopril 10 mg a pink pill mfg by Lupin for a couple years, works great. When I renewed my prescription this time they gave me lisinopril 10 mg a blue pill mfg by Watson, within a couple days my blood pressure is up, I don t feel as good and my eyeballs feel like they are hot. My eyelids and eyes feel like they are burning. I have to sit and close eyes to get relief from it. My questions are....... Is this from changing the mfg? Are these 2 pills EXACTLY the same? Thanks for your time

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Ideally, they should be the same. In the real world, there may be differences if the quality control of these medications is not well respected so that the exact milligrams put into the drug are well respected. There are some terrible pharmaceutical companies that would put less of the active ingredient resulting in under treatment of patients with drugs. This may explain some of the difficulties we have especially when we switch for branded medications to generics. I will advise you to get the previous pill and stick to it seen the good results you had while on it.
