Does Ciprofloxacin Cause Fungal Infection In Ears?

Hi, I just am really concerned because my dr prescribed me ear drop antibiotics and the pharmacy gave me this ciprofloxacin ophthalmic solution usp. which appears to be for the eyes. the pharmacist kept saying this is the same thing. But, the last time the ear dr told me to not use it anymore because of risk of fungal infection. Because this is what he prescribed after my ear surgery

Hi Ciprofloxacin itself doesn't cause fungal infection. But using the drops for prolonged periods more than warranted can lead to development of fungal infections because the good protective bacteria will die too. So use Ciprofloxacin or any antibiotic drops only for the period prescribed and then stop. I hope this helps. Take care :)
