Do I Need To Take Special Care For The Steam Burn On My Inner Arm As I Am Taking Medicines For Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I received a 2.5" x 1" steam burn on my inner arm about three inches up from my wrist approximately 60 hours ago. It is bright red and getter darker all most purplish. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and take methotrexate and simponi. Does my disease or do my medications mean I need to do something special with this burn or is it acting like any burn of this type?

Hi,

The first step to treating a steam burn is to assess the severity of the burn. Burns that appear red and white but are not very painful may require medical attention, as these burns may be deep and damage may have been done to the nerve endings. If the burn is superficial, it is important to move away from the steamy location and keep the damaged area clean and cool.

Mentioned medicines have nothing to do with. Just take care of the burn and make sure it is not getting infection. ointment Silver sulfadiazine will help in healing it. You should consult local doctor for examination of burn site and necessary medication.
