Do I Have To Take 'neumarcazole' Life Long For Thyroid Problem?
I am 43 years of , suffering with thyroid problem from 7 to 8 years and I am on medication neumarcazole 100 mg . Besides I would like mention u that initially when it occurs to me I have loosen weight like frm 85 kg to 56 kg drastically. Once it was discovered and i started taking medicine I regain mine weight ,but its increases up to 103 kg and now its been sustain on the same ratio . Do I have to continue with this medicines whole life ? will I gain mine my original weight of its own? please advice me for the food selection too?
I am surprised that you are on high dose of neomercazole for 6-8 yrs. Are you taking really 100 mg? or wrongly typed 10mg?
In my practice I start Neomercazole at a dose of 30-60 mg initially. Then I will check thyroid function tests every 2-3 months and gradually decrease the dose to 5-10 mg. This I will give to a maximum of 2 yrs. If thyroid function is not normalized or if I cant stop medications after 2 yrs, I will do a radio iodine ablation or surgery on thyroid to have a cure of hyperthyroidism.
This medication is not one that you can take lifelong. The weight will return to normal once your thyroid function is normal. Diet in hyperthyroidism is iodine free diet (decreased intake of see foods, salt). Please check the thyroid function before starting on diet plan.
