Do Norcos In The Long Run Affect The Liver?

My doctor has taken 3 separate blood test and said my numbers were on the high side she is sending me to get a untersound and then a doctor. I have been on Norco s for many years because of severe accidents some sides say it others say it affects the liver. Can I give you my numbers for you to explain what is going on?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Long term damage to the liver can sometimes occur with the use of opiates in some persons. It is possible that the Norco contributed to the issues. Other common causes are:
(1) Non alcoholic liver disease- diet and inactivity cause the build up of fat in the liver which causes inflammation and damage
(2) Alcohol use
(3) Trauma

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
