Dizzy, Light Headedness, Tiredness, Constipation, Stabbing Stomach Pains, Drinking Lots Of Water, Thyroid And Iron Levels Normal. What Could This Be?

Hi, for a while now I have been getting dizzy and light headed when I stand up. I ve also been extremely tired to the point where I feel like I can t do anything. My GP tested my thyroid and my iron levels and they were fine but i m still getting these symptoms only now for the last few days I have been extremely thirsty, especially in the evening where I can drink 5 or 6 large glasses of water in the space of 2 hours. I am thinking perhaps I should go back to my GP for more tests I also suffer from constipation and stabbing , almost crippling, stomach pains due to this.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history of pain in abdomen, constipation, light headedness, tiredness, thyroid and iron levels being normal.
yes, you should consult your GP again to have clinical evaluation, examination and further investigations along with symptomatic treatment to start with.
X-ray of abdomen to see for colon and intestinal problems to start with.
Tests of stool and blood.
Ultrasonography of abdomen.
Blood tests for other causes like typhoid and so on.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and gives a plan for proper management.
Till then you can take stool softeners.
Multivitamins with minerals to cope up with weakness.
If the blood sugar is normal then oral rehydration solution may help.
Further management as per the findings.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
