Dizziness When Waking Up In The Morning And Tingling Sensation In Hands. History Of Lack Of Sleep. CT Scan, Lab Tests Normal. Any Ideas?

I worked the last 10 nights 12 hrs and I usually don't wrk nights. I've been waking up dizzy the last couple days. I went to ER, ct head and neck were normal and labs were normal but I'm still feeling dizzy and tingling in my hands. Could this be from lack of sleep? While I was wrking those 10 nights I was drinking a lot of coffee. Please tell me what this could be. I'm very nervous and I don't know what to do. I also have whip lash at bott. Of my neck from falling couple wks ago but like I said ct was neg. and it was done yesterday.

Hello dear,

Based on the history as mentioned in your post, your symptoms can be attributed to stress & lack of adequate sleep.
Moreover, drinking of excessive coffee for working at nights has additive effect on your symptoms.
Coffee contains caffeine which on excess consumption can present with such symptoms.

Other causes of dizziness & tingling sensation can be due to:
1. Any fluctuation in the blood pressure & blood sugar levels.
2. Inadequate hydration status & electrolyte balance of the body.
3. Deficiencies of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Folic acid, etc. which interferes with blood formation
4. Hormonal & metabolic causes

Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure & blood sugar levels will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.

And it is also needed that you take certain precautions regarding your diet & lifestyle, such as:
1. Take soft, plain, non-spicy foods
2. Drink lots of water to maintain adequate hydration
3. Avoid fast foods, carbonated drinks, caffeine, etc.
4. Avoid smoking & alcohol.
5. Keep away stress..think positive.
6. Exercise regularly & practice meditation.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Thanks & take care.
