Did I Have A Panic Attack Or Is It More Serious ?

did i have a panic attack or is it more serious? about 2 or 3 days ago I went numb from head to toe. my tounge had a tingling sensation like I had touched it to a 9 volt battery. and my heart was felt like it was going to jump out of my chest . The numb feeling lasted about 5secs. the racing heart lasted a few mins. It happened again last night but this time I wasn t numb. Just a racing heart and light headedness. I went to the emergency room and was given an ativan prescription. Can anyone give me an opinion. I am 23yr old. slightly over weight. and otherwise healthy. Thank you for any and all help. I appriciate it.

If you went to the emergency room with these symptoms and you had a thorough exam, I would be very inclined to believe (since you are in good health) that what you are having are panic attacks. Did they do an EKG? If they didn't, and you're still concerned, you can always go to your primary care doctor and request one. Even if nothing is physically wrong with you, it might ease your mind and help quell the panic attacks.
